A native of Austin, Dr. Tucker attended Davidson College, where she graduated with distinction as a double major in Psychology and Spanish. She then attended the APA-accredited PhD program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. During graduate school, Dr. Tucker worked with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in a variety of settings, and she volunteered at the psychiatric inpatient unit at Zale-Lipshy and the Palliative Care Clinic at Parkland. Dr. Tucker published several papers in peer-reviewed academic journals, presented at national conferences, and was recognized as the "Outstanding Intern" of her class. 

Dr. Tucker completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Women's and Children's Services at Baylor University Medical Center, where she remains on-staff, supervising psychologists-in-training. She also teaches Ob-Gyn residents, is a frequent guest speaker at support groups, and assists in perinatal and oncology research. Dr. Tucker has received specialized training in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and is a certified Circle of Security-Parenting© educator. She also has advanced training in insight-oriented (also called psychodynamic or psychoanalytic) psychotherapy and is a candidate psychoanalyst.

Dr. Tucker is a licensed psychologist in Texas. She is adjunct clinical faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, serves on the coordinating committee for the Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and is secretary of  the Dallas Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Psychoanalytic Association, Texas Psychological Association, Dallas Psychological Association, Dallas Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, and Dallas Psychoanalytic Center.
